Huntsville Space & Rocket Center

Picture heavy post coming up. Today (Thursday the 13th) we went to the Huntsville Space & Rocket Center. It was cooler than I could have hoped!

They have SO many interesting displays and SO many interactive learning setups! Not to mention a rock climbing wall, and a Moon-shot ride like you see at theme parks. With so much great stuff, I'll let the pictures do more of the talking this time.

Amy experimenting with a robotic arm

Toy tables. This girl is adorable! Have I mentioned that yet?

Oh, you know, just eating lunch next to a massive rocket

I love this girls' face! They had a small play place area for littles.

This is the test model of the Saturn V, the rocket that ran the Apollo missions to the moon!

It's HUGE!

There were SO many interesting displays

This is an actual moon rock, brought back from one of the Apollo missions

The landing pod to get the Astronauts back home

More engagement with other displays. It felt like we kept pulling them from whatever they were doing to the next great thing.

Where each successful Apollo mission landed along with some details of each

The space shuttle. Not sure if you can get the scale from this photo, but again, it's quite massive!

I like this boy!

And this woman!

What's amazing is we got to do all of these things for free thanks to our Thanksgiving Point family pass! The only thing we didn't do was watch the IMAX film as it cost extra, but as it was, we spent the whole day here and left at closing time.

A long drive, a longer day, and a wonderful experience!
