Today was a regular ol' school day. We have quite a few of those that I don't always blog about because, well, saying that we homeschool is a bit like saying we had a baby... we all know who does most of the work!
Roadschooling has me a lot more involved, but not in the regular at-home curriculum school work.
This view of the river/reservoir out our back patio is one I'll probably post a lot. We love it!
Look who's reading under the table while the rest of the kids do their work!
This afternoon we had recess. It's been my favorite class since ever and I'm the teacher on this one! :-) The closest park to home according to Google is about 15 minutes away. I couldn't really tell from pics, but it appeared to have a play ground so we decided we'd try it out. It was a big win!
Someone's having fun on the swing! Two someone's, in fact!
As we piled out of the van, kids running off to play, a man stopped in his car and started to chat. That's normal here, I've learned, and I L.O.V.E. it! It's what I like to do and it's socially acceptable here! Who'd've thought I'd find a place where my antics aren't considered socially awkward?! Well, or at least slightly less socially awkward! 😂
Aaaaanyway, it turns out this park was built in the late 90's as a community project and he helped build it.
Tire Swing Dizzies
I wish I'd taken a picture with him. I also wish I'd taken more pictures of the playground. I didn't realize I hadn't at all!
Amy and I played some catch, kids played on the playground, we all played some catch, we got out Benjo's kite--we played and played!
Mr. Pitcher
This is on the old, smaller playground in the pines
Amy helping Ben with his kite. There was no wind, but it worked pretty well running with it. Ben did get it stuck in a tree at one point, but we were able to work it down!
A beauitful sunset brewing
And indeed it was! The picture doesn't do justice. I believe that big flock of birds floating there are a type of pelican, but not sure.
It gets dark here around 4:45pm right now. When we pulled into the park, we saw a lot of Christmas set ups. We drove by them again as it got dark and the lights turned on.
A chapel in the pines. A lovely place to worship for sure!
A love how many nativities there were. Yes, there was plenty of Santa stuff, but it was clear that the Babe of Bethlehem is the focus of Christmas here.
Trees of Lights along the path
Not sure if you can tell the scale, but one of those reindeer legs was about 4-5 feet tall. It was pretty big!
This was my favorite display. Simple yet moving.
Mom got a nice break and we had a great time! A pleasant day!
